The substances present in cannabis which are responsible for our well-beingare called terpenes. In addition to cannabinoids, they are another very important group of cannabis ingredients. Terpenes are compounds present in all essential oils and they are well known in aromatherapy and herbal medicine. In combination with cannabinoids their effect is increased (synergistic effect - \"entourage effect\"). Terpenes primarily role is to take care of our well-being. In recent years, more and more people and groups have been involved in research about the effects of terpenes and the combination of terpenes with cannabinoids.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Terpenes are divided into several groups according to their chemical structure, just like cannabinoids. Basically, these are hydrocarbons composed of several isoprene units. Monoterpenes consist of two isoprene units, sesquiterpenes of three isoprene units, and so on.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Among the most important terpenes present in cannabis are myrcene, pinene, linalool, beta-caryophyllene, terpineol, limonene, valence, terpinolene, and many others present in smaller amounts. Different terpenes have different properties, and thus act as antioxidants, antimicrobials, increase concentration \/ focus, have antibiotic properties, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, etc.<\/p>\n

The presence of terpenes in the right ratio can have a positive effect on our well-being. Different varieties \/ types of hemp contain terpenes in different concentrations and consequently, by choosing the right variety, each individual can find the most suitable one.<\/p>\n

At the end of the post there are shown four different examples of well-being that can be achieved by consuming carefully prepared hemp drops. It is also present in conifer resins, red maple, cotton leaves, poplar, vinegar, conifers, hemp and juniper. Its isomer, L-Limonene, is found in small amounts in peppermint essential oil. In the food industry it is used mainly as an aromatic agent and food supplement, and in the cosmetics industry as a perfume, but it can also be used as a natural insecticide.<\/p>\n

As the name suggests, it is found mainly in the resin of pine and other conifers, and gives them a distinct odor. Pine is mainly responsible for the relaxing scents that we perceive when walking through a coniferous guest, but it is also present in some other plants (Heterotheca, Artemisia tridentata). alpha-Pinene is the most present terpene in nature and has a very pronounced repellent odor to insects. Essential oil of Arthropod (Sideritis) contains high contents of pinene, in high concentrations it is also found in turpentine resin. Pinene is present in some citrus fruits, cumin, hops and hemp.<\/p>\n
